Erik Jones lidera una acortada primera práctica de sábado en Michigan
Erik Jones, nativo de Michigan, marcó el camino en la sesión abreviada de entrenamientos matutino del sábado en Michigan International Speedway.

Una densa niebla demoró el inicio de la práctica prevista originalmente a 55 minutos y si bien NASCAR sumó cinco minutos más, los equipos solamente tuvieron 15 minutos de actividad en pista.
El promedio de velocidad de Jones de 200.150mph se mantuvo en lo más alto durante toda la sesión. El novato William Byron fue segundo (199.678mph) y Brad Keselowski se ubicó tercero (199.358mph), delante de Clint Bowyer y Joey Logano.
Los diez primeros puestos los completaron Ryan Blaney, Alex bowman, Paul Menard, el autor de la pole, Denny Hamlin, y Kevin Harvick.
Cinco equipos aprovecharon la breve sesión para cumplir sus 15 minutos de sanción: Martin Truex Jr. llegó tarde a la inspección previa de Watkins Glen; Kyle Busch, Daniel Suárez y Ryan Newman tuvieron infracciones en las prácticas de The Glen y Darrell Wallace Jr. y B.B.
