Leist logra el primer tiempo en la primera práctica de IndyCar
Matheus Leist comenzó de gran manera su campaña en la IndyCar luego de marcar el mejor tiempo en el primer entrenamiento en San Petersburgo, donde este fin de semana comienza la temporada 2018.

El joven piloto brasileño le sacó casi medio segundo a Sébastien Bourdais, ganador de esta carrera el año pasado, mientras que Ryan Hunter-Reay y Alexander Rossi fueron tercero y cuarto.
Scott Dixon, cuatro veces campeón de la serie, ocupó la quinta posición final, justo por delante de otro debutante, Robert Wickens, en tanto que Simon Pagenaud y Will Power terminaron en la séptima y octava ubicación.
Por su parte, Tony Kanaan fue noveno, seguido de Spencer Pigot, mientras que Jordan King y Graham Rahal fueron 11° y 12°, respectivamente.
Zach Veach, otro de los novatos esta temporada, se ubicó 16°, justo por detrás del campeón reinante, Josef Newgarden.
Esta ronda marca también el debut del equipo Carlin en IndyCar y sus pilotos, Max Chilton y Charlie Kimball, fueron 20° y 21°.
El colombiano Gabby Chaves marcó el 23° tiempo, superando al auto del Juncos Racing que conduce Rene Binder.
