Rossi manda en el warm up de IndyCar en Laguna Seca
Alexander Rossi, del Andretti Autosport, lideró el warm up de un domingo que se presenta con cielo gris en Laguna Seca y que se vio interrumpido por una bandera roja por un trompo de Callum Ilott.

La capa marina sobre el WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca hizo que los bordillos estuvieran húmedos y fueran traicioneros, e Ilott lo descubrió de la peor manera, ya que pasó demasiado sobre los bordillos en el interior de la curva 6 e hizo un trompo hacia la trampa de arena y golpeó su alerón trasero contra la barrera de neumáticos.
Ed Jones también se fue largo, pero se deslizó elegantemente por la arena y regresó a la pista sin mayores daños.
Cuando la pista volvió a ponerse con bandera verde, Rossi y su compañero de equipo Herta se lanzaron por el compuesto rojo de Firestone y se pusieron al frente de la tabla de tiempos.
Takuma Sato, de Rahal Letterman Lanigan, que saldrá 23°, fue el piloto más rápido con el compuesto duro, terminando tercero por delante de Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti), y Marcus Ericsson, que fue el más rápido de los pilotos de Chip Ganassi Racing-Honda.
El líder del campeonato, Alex Palou, se salió de la pista en el Sacacorchos en su última vuelta, pero aún así logró el noveno mejor tiempo. El piloto de Ganassi saldrá cuarto esta tarde.
Patricio O'Ward, por su parte, se ubicó en la 21° posición en el warm up.
